I was totally shocked today to read the news about the sinking of the titanic which we all knew was made famous by books and movies that a big iceburg caused the death of thousands and it became a memorial day in history that would echo through time .

Titanic sunk by steering mistake, author says
LONDON (Reuters) – The Titanic hit an iceberg in 1912 because of a basic steering error, and only sank as fast as it did because an official persuaded the captain to continue sailing, an author said in an interview published on Wednesday.Louise Patten, a writer and granddaughter of Titanic second officer Charles Lightoller, said the truth about what happened nearly 100 years ago had been hidden for fear of tarnishing the reputation of her grandfather, who later became a war hero.
Lightoller, the most senior officer to have survived the disaster, covered up the error in two inquiries on both sides of the Atlantic because he was worried it would bankrupt the ill-fated liner's owners and put his colleagues out of a job.
"They could easily have avoided the iceberg if it wasn't for the blunder," Patten told the Daily Telegraph.
Well i don't really dwell on the past but i guess we do want to know the real story . How about the heart of the sea was it made up to make an interesting story or was it real . If fact this news will be great if it make a new movie that will tell us the truth of it all than just some love story everyone want it to be . But would anyone pay to really watch a movie just about a tragedy with no love story ?
Was it really a cover up? They still hit the iceberg, they just never said how or why they hit the iceberg.
ReplyDeleteWell, it is mistake they allowed to blossom to unbelievable heights. Nevertheless, they all were celebrated not knowing what really went wrong. All of these shows how humans can really do anything to be of relevance!
ReplyDeleteBesides, I think I have some where that either the owner of the ship or one of the officials boasted that not even God can sink the Titanic since everything needed was done to forstall that event!
Now knowing what really brought the ship down shows that man must not be too confident of his achievements. He should always understand that there is another who holds all things. Let us always recognize his presence and power.
We thank God that men are now knowing the truth. Without God even the smallest things of life can bring us down.
